Throughout the UKCS, reference has been made to ‘library-defined’ options, e.g. screen layouts, fields and field labels, indexes, record displays etc. Libraries may wish to ascertain through additional information from the supplier, whether such customisation is done by the supplier or by the library, and if done by the library, whether any special expertise is needed. It is also suggested that suppliers are asked if software upgrades impact on any configuration done by the library. As before, it is important that libraries see the actual interface for system configuration at supplier demonstrations and site visits.
